ANDREW L. RUBIN
Andrew Rubin was born and raised in Encinitas, CA where he first started photography and filmmaking. In the spring of 2009 Andrew graduated from New York University’s Tisch School for the Arts with a B.A. in Film Production and a Minor in History.
Andrew has directed numerous short films and documentaries. In 2007 Andrew was flown to Sundance Film Festival upon winning Best Documentary from Moving Pictures Magazine short film competition for his documentary “Over The River And Through The Woods”; Andrew’s first film and a tribute to his Grandmother who suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease.
Andrew is currently creating a New Media Production and Distribution company, Symptom Media, to oversee the creation of films and new media content based on various psychological disorders and phenomena for educational and entertainment consumption. The film “Laney’s Eighteenth” was the first short film for Symptom Media and was presented to the Association for Academic Psychiatry in September of 2008. The film is currently being used in university classrooms throughout the country.
Andrew continues to enjoy his lifelong passion for filmmaking, photography, screenwriting, studying jazz with his long time friend and legendary saxophonist, Anthony Ortega,
and wandering the streets of New York.

Symptom Media is an online production and distribution company created in the Spring of 2009 to oversee the creation of educational and entertainment new media content with an initial focus on psychiatry and related mental health fields. The company was founded by Andrew Rubin, his brother, Matthew Rubin a former Acquisitions Manger for a Hollywood Studio, and Dr. Donald Fidler of West Virginia University.
